ACCESS
Canada's student journalism conference.

About our conference

Whether they are privileged to have it or are in a struggle to get it, ACCESS is fundamentally what journalists seek today. As crucial as it can be to possess, however, the battle for its ownership and maintenance is ripe with challenge. This year's conference will educate students about the role of the modern journalist in relation to the access.

Getting here

Ottawa is within driving distance for most ORCUP andCUPbeq papers. Porter Airlines flies to YOW from Thunder Bay as well as from the major ARCUP cities (Halifax, Moncton, St. John’s). As for the Prairies and West Coast... there are some direct flights. That’s the best we can do. (Alternative: sled dogs.)

What's hot in a cold city

Union 613: a speakeasy. FallDown Gallery: a spot for artists and punks. Zaphod Beeblebrox: a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy-themed bar (the Rolling Stones shot a video here!). The Rink of Dreams: the Ottawa Senators’ sponsors ice rink on the lawn of city hall. Babylon (nightclub): home of legendary ‘90’s nights. Time Code: a “blissfully hot and sweaty dance party.”
